Description:Chaga is a non-toxic mushroom and is one of the foods highest in antioxidants. This tree mushroom grows on living trees unlike other tree mushrooms, which grow on dead trees, draw its nutrients and derive its extracts from the tree it grows on. Chaga grows wild in cold northern climates and cannot be grown artificially. Although Chaga has been used for medicinal purposes for at least several hundred years in Russia and Eastern Europe, it has been little known in America. Chaga has to grow at least 5 years before harvest, which makes it hard for commercial mass production. Chaga looks like burnt wood or charcoal on the outside but appears to be orange inside.
